Beside walking into tranquil surrounding the views of mountains are exceptional along with traditional farm villages of Gurung and Magar - Pun tribes the hill people of Annapurna region, where men folks have long history as famous Gorkha soldiers serving in foreign legion UK-India and as Singapore police, a farmer and a cattle herders by traditional way of living and profession since hundred of centuries.

Khair Lake & Kopra Hill Trekking starts taking an overland drive to reach famous and popular touristic spot at Pokhara, where adventure begins taking a short drive to commence our walk towards high hills of Annapurna Himalaya. Walk leads with a climb into quiet and peaceful areas and villages where seldom visited by other trekkers and slowly walk leads to famous Poon Hill with matchless panorama of mountains and then unto complete wilderness over high hills of Kopra ridge with stunning views of Dhaulagiri-Annapurna and Vara Shikar peaks (A-Fang).

At Kopra ridge leads to holy Lake of Khair, where festival takes place once a year mass flow of pilgrims taking a bathe in the icy pond of Khair, considered as sacred. After a marvelous time on high hills and ridges of Annapurna Himalaya journey continues to an end at Pokhara taking an alternative scenic route to complete our adventure of a lifetime experience with amazing and fond memories on Khair Lake & Kopra Hill Trekking.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: On arrival in Kathmandu meet our staff for transfer to hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome and greetings and then transfer to your hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city. After checking into your rooms getting refreshed from Jet-Lag, a quiet environment after getting refreshed join at main hall or in lobby where our guide will provide briefing on treks-hotels with necessary information. Evening includes group dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with folk culture program with various dances of Nepal while having your authentic Nepalese dinner with local entertainment.

Day 02: Drive / Fly to Pokhara 860m (220 k.m distance) of 06 hrs journey (30 min by air).

Morning after breakfast transfer for the drive to scenic Pokhara, leading you on Nepal’s main busy Highway with exciting views of distant peaks and green landscapes, as drive leads past many farm villages and towns to reach at Pokhara after 5-6 hrs of interesting overland journey. Pokhara, blessed with natural beauty located on the laps of massive Annapurna Himalaya includes majestic Machapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’, due to its twin summits, a virgin unclimbed peaks of Himalaya. Besides mountains and rolling green hills treasures calm lakes of Phewa and Begnas where most of nice hotels of international standard restaurants located by the Phewa Lake. (For flying options to Pokhara 30 minutes of short scenic flights from Kathmandu)

Day 03: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Lyangdi 1,650 m - 05 hrs with 2 hrs overland.

After a pleasant stop in Pokhara with marvelous views of Annapurna Himalaya with magnificent Machapuchare Himal, completing breakfast an exciting drive of few hours beyond Pokhara valley to reach our starting point to Khair Lake & Kopra Hill trekking. Drive leads past Pokhara valley outskirt with marvelous scenery of Annapurna peaks and farm lands and then reaching much warmer areas at Nayapul town by the road side of Pokhara and Beni Highway. From here cross Modi River to a nice and lovely village to Lyangdi beginning our first day walks through farm villages with uphill on stone paved steps to reach at Lyangdi for overnight stop. Lyangdi a small farm village with views of Annapurna South 7,219m and Mt. Machapuchare after walking past farm area’s at Deopur village, a village with mixture of Magar, Gurung , Chettries, Brahmins and Newar people, continuing for short while coming across terraced fields. After some nice break then walk through terraced fields to Lyangdi village for overnight stop.

Day 04: Trek to Sallijan 2,300 m -06 hrs.

Morning walk leads to a steady climb on terraced fields, villages and forest of rhododendron, oaks tree lines, then slowly reaching higher area with change in vegetation and landscapes as temperature gets get’s cooler, trekking through pristine alpine forest then an uphill walk to a small ridge at 2,400m, from here a gradual downhill walk, then contouring the hill high above Sallijan village at 2,300 m for our overnight stop.

Day 05: Trek to Nangi 2,100 m - 04 hrs.

Today a half day enjoyable walk maximum of four hours morning leads to a small pass above 2,480 m high with wonderful views of Tukuche, Nilgiri and Annapurna I. After a good rest with scenery from the top, walk leads downhill for an hour to a small Nangi village inhabited by Pun of Magar tribe, this farm village at 2,100 m an interesting village with a school supported by Singapore people and Australians. The school also looks after the camping grounds and maintains it. It has a phone and computers and an internet access with well furnished library.

Day 06: Trek to Ghore pani 2,855 m - 08 hr.

After a good time at Nangi, morning walk starts with uphill reaching to a ridge at 2,300 m with grand views of the world’s seventh highest Dhaulagiri Himal 8,167m and its range of snow capped peaks. Today’s walk with combination of ups and down, which leads to a narrow winding path through rhododendron and pine forest. Morning leads to pleasant walk of near four hours to reach at Ramche rewards you with fantastic views of hills and snowcapped peaks and then climb lead to an open grazing area at Phulbari for overnight stop. This spot offers fantastic scenery of surrounding hills and valleys with views of Mt. Dhaulagiri mountain massive range.

Day 07: Trek to Sauta 2,200 m -04 hrs.

Morning walk earlier than normal day as today’s walk leads to famous Pun Hill at 3,210 meters above Ghorepani village, trekking for few hours with steep ascend to wonderful spot at Poon hill, offering 360 degree panorama of mountain range from Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris Himal all the way to world’s 08th highest Mt. Manaslu in the east horizon with magnificent Mt. Machapuchare (Fish Tail). After a wonderful and great panorama descend to Ghorepani on the main trail a village with many lodges to cater trekkers. From Ghorepani walk on main trail for a while to Chitre village where our route diverts to Sauta village in complete isolation away from mainstream trekking route, from Chitre village a short distance walk to a lovely farm village at Sauta for overnight stop.

Day 08: Trek to Chistibung 3,000 m -05 hrs.

Starting with slow gradual morning walk on off the beaten path past farm fields and scattered villages, trekking north through enchanting rhododendron and bamboo forest, then climb into forested areas to follow the route towards Khair ridge. Walk leads to a small stream then with an uphill into meadow and summer pastures to reach at Chistebung for overnight stop, a small place with few small huts and houses serving as tea-houses.

Day 09: Trek to Khair or Kopra Ridge 3,870 m - 03 hrs.

Today’s walk of few hours to reach at Khair also called Kopra ridge, from here altitude gains on leaving tree lines behind for short alpine bushes and shrubs, around this areas chances of spotting some wildlife like Himalayan Thar, Danphe Pheasant (National Bird of Nepal). Morning after few hours of scenic walk uphill reaching our overnight stop at Khair or Kopra located on a hill ridge, a scenic spot with scenery of surrounding green landscapes along with stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri massive range and Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang), Annapurna South which towers directly from this wonderful spot.

Day 10: At Kopra Hill / Ridge for optional excursion to holy Khair lake.

A great wonderful spot for rest day, optional hike to holy lake at Khair Lake located 4,247 m the highest point of the adventure. Walk is quite long and strenuous but worth the views, the site of religious festival events held annually on august month. Villagers from surrounding area assemble here to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and bathe in the icy waters, offers sacrifices of sheep and goats. Having great wonderful time and worth the tough long walks retrace the journey back at Kopra for last overnight stop on well hidden corners of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 11: Trek to Dobato 3,420 m - 05 hrs.

After a great time at Khair Hill, morning walk leads to a long descend towards east through grazing lands in the middle of rhododendron forest, from Kopra a long downhill walk and back into tree lines and heading to our overnight stop at Dobato, a nice areas with summer pasture for local cattle herders offering views of Annapurna South and Mt. Machapuchare ‘Fish Tail’.

Day 12: Trek to Gandruk 1,950 m - 05 hrs.

With super scenic morning views of snow capped peaks walk continues on gradual downhill into forest of rhododendron, oak and magnolia, then reaching main trekking trails of Gandruk and Ghorepani route at Tadapani. Here having refreshing break continue walk with long descend to reach at Gandruk for overnight in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge with views of Annapurna Himal with time to explore this large Gurung village. The men folk of Gandruk village have long tradition of supplying some of the finest soldiers in the Gorkha Regiment to both British and Indian Army. Gandruk a fascinating village perched on beautiful location; with views of Annapurna and surrounding dramatic landscapes, and last overnight on the high hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 13: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara - 06 hrs.

Morning leads to long downhill past terraced farm fields with magnificent views of Himalayan mountains, after reaching the bottom of Kimche and Gandruk hill at Syali Bazaar, a pleasant drive leads to Birethati village and then at Nayapul on the road head to Pokhara of few hour drive to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in high hills and mountains.

Day 14: Drive or fly to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels.

Morning transfer into a vehicles either by car-coach or in tourist bus (as per the size of the group), for overland journey back to Kathmandu with scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields within nice villages and towns as drive brings you back at hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with time for individual activities and shopping souvenirs. (Flying to Kathmandu from Pokhara 35 minutes scenic flights)
