Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 On arrival in Kathmandu meet our staff for transfer to hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome and greetings and then transfer to your hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city. After checking into your rooms getting refreshed from Jet-Lag, a quiet environment after getting refreshed join at main hall or in lobby where our guide will provide briefing on Mt. Kailash Overland Adventure including hotels and other necessary information. Evening includes group dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with folk culture program with various dances of Nepal while having your authentic Nepalese dinner with local entertainment

Day 2 In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour around world heritage sites.

Morning after hearty breakfast depart from the hotel where our city and tour guide leads you for exciting guided sightseeing around Kathmandu. Although Kathmandu a metropolitan city still retains its ancient culture and traditional way of life with many world heritage sites to visit of great interest, tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square (old palace courtyard) old Syambhunath Stupa (famous land mark of Nepal and Kathmandu), Bouddhanath Stupa (Little Tibet) with holy Pashupatinath Temple of Hindu religion, and back to hotel with time for Mt. Kailash Overland Adventure preparations next early morning.

Day 3 Drive to Syabrubesi 1,470 m North of Kathmandu via Dhunche town 1,950 - 06 hrs.

Starting marvelous Mt. Kailash Overland Adventure, heading North West from Kathmandu taking an exciting overland drive past many farm villages and towns within low warmer valley of Trisuli Bazaar, and then towards cooler areas to reach at Dhunche, headquarter and administrative town of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal. From here entering into Langtang National Park, our journey continues downhill on zig-zag winding road to reach at Syabrubesi village in a nice local lodge for overnight halt.

Day 4 Drive to Kyirong 2,890 m (Kyidrong / Dzonga) County camp or in local Guesthouse

From Syabrubesi morning drive leads on newly built road that links Nepal / Tibet towards Rasuwagadhi (1800m / 15 km / 1 hr min from Syabrubesi), here received by our Tibetan counterpart guide and drivers, after completing immigration & custom formalities on both side of the frontier Nepal / Tibet at Rasuwagadhi, continue drive further to Kyirong county with first overnight stop in Tibet accommodation at local guest-house. At Kyirong afternoon with time to relax and enjoy views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal that borders Nepal and Tibet.

Day 5 At Kyirong rest day for acclimatization

A necessary and important rest day for acclimatization before heading higher terrain as this village a perfect spot for rest with an altitude of 2,890 m as next day drive leads above 4,500 meters and much higher over passes. At Kyirong relax and enjoy the views of Ganesh also known as Yangra in Tibetan with Langtang Himal peaks towards south that borders Nepal and Tibet. Kyirong is also a famous religious and historical place, home of 11 th Centaury great saint and Guru Milarepa known for his tantric wisdom as well a poet and folk singer, his song are still remembered by local herdsman and villagers.

Day 6 Drive to Saga 4,400m - 05 hrs. (240 k.m)

After a nice pleasant rest and wonderful stop at Kyirong morning continue drive on world highest and largest Tibetan plateau into inner Tibet wild windswept high and dry landscapes, as the drive joins on the road coming from Nylam / Zhangmu near Paikutsho huge salt lakes. From here heading over a small pass to reach Bhramputra River or Yalung Tsangpo after crossing the river on a bridge reach at Saga town, a growing moderate size town located on route Mt. Kailash and Shigatse / Lhasa.

Day 7 Drive to Paryang 4,550 m - 05 hrs (210 k.m.)

From Saga few hours’ drive over a pass and then descend to long stretch of Tibetan plains, with great views of distant peaks. Drive passes few villages and nomads / yak herders’ camps and then reaching a windswept village at Paryang. Paryang at approx 4,550m is a village of 15-20 houses mainly serving as Guest houses and Lodge, where the facilities are very simple and basic.

Day 8 Drive to east Manasrover 4,550 m - 06 hrs (240 k.m.)

Morning continues drive passing some small villages and nomads camps, and then over Mayam-la at 5,150m to reach at east of Lake Manasrover for overnight stop near Horpa town with first view of Mt. Kailash towards North West direction.

Day 9 Acclimatization and Rest Day at Manasrover.

Rest day for acclimatization with optional short walk around Manasrover, a sacred lake located between Mt. Kailash 6,714m and the Gurla Mandhata mountain range at 7,694 m. Manasrover floats beneath the shadow of holy Kailash as the lake formed in the mind of Gods. The best time to circle Manasrover is in late autumn and early spring when the streams and rivers flowing into the lake are low. It is then possible to walk very near the shoreline. An optional circuit or parikrama on drive trip around Manasrover Lake can be done on request which takes about 3-4 hrs of 110 k.m distance round trip.

Day 10 Drive to Tarboche via Darchen 4,600m walk to Dhiraphuk 4,900 m (12 k.m.)

After a wonderful rest at holy Lake Manasrover, a short drive to Darchen town with many hotels and guesthouses, a busy small town with pilgrims during auspicious time for parikrama / kora or circuit. Darchen located South Face of Mt. Kailash where holy walk / kora start and ends, our drive leads North West at holy spot of Tarboche where walk starts with view of Mt. Kailash West Face. Kailash (6,714m.), the heart of ancient Shangshung kingdom supposed country of pre-Buddhist Bonpos origin. After 4 hrs walks brings you at Diraphuk Gompa for overnight stop in a simple lodge.

Day 11 Trek to Zutul-Puk 4,760 m via Droma-la 5, 470 m. (22 k.m.)

After Dhiraphuk, morning walk on gradual path for an hour then climb to reach top at Dromo-la the highest point of the journey and a holy spot at 5,470m /18,525ft. A big boulder represents the goddess Dolma or Dromo (Tara) festooned with prayer flags. This spot is the physical and spiritual high point of pilgrimage. From here descend to the bottoms of the hill and walk to Zutul-Puk Gompa for overnight stop, Zuthul means cave. The place is named after a cave in which the poet, saint Milarepa stayed meditating. His footprint still remains on the roof.

Day 12 Trek to near Darchen 4670 (08 k.m) and drive near Maium-la

Last day of holy walk ‘kora’ or parikrama, starts with an easy walk of 3 hours on a broad plain passing many mani walls, then coming to a narrow valley with short section of gorge as the route turns towards west to Darchen, the last leg of the walk make a dramatic exit from the river valley on to the plain, walk passes mani walls decorated with carved yak skulls. A short walk from here brings at near Darchen with an end of this great trek, from here drive back near Maium-la around Lake Manasrover for overnight stop.

Day 12 Drive back to Saga 4640 via Paryang.

A long drive today to reach at Saga town via Paryang, retracing journey on the same route for 6-7 hours of overland drive to Saga for overnight stop.

Day 14 Drive to Kyirong 2890 m stay over night local guesthouse - 05 hrs

Drive back heading due south to Kyirong County after driving past and end of vast Tibetan plateau following the same route to Kyirong for last overnight stop in Tibetan soil.

Day 15 Drive to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels

arewell to our Tibetan guides and drivers as morning starts leaving Tibet with short drive to the border post of Nepal and Tibet / China at Rasuwa-Gadhi, here on completing visa and custom formalities then enter into Nepal border at Rasuwa Gadhi, here again following and completing immigration forms and continue drive on rough dirt road for a while to reach at Syabrubesi village, after a short refreshing break journey continues on winding uphill to reach at Dhunche town then continue drive leads you back at Kathmandu with views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields driving past nice villages and towns as the journey brings you back at hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with time for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

Day 16 Depart for international flight home ward bound or to respective countries
