‘adventure on old, original trail from Jiri on the footsteps of Tenzing and Hillary to Everest’
Tramping Himalaya Adventures offers Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking, which is different to other Everest programs on this marvelous journey, walking on historical and original route to high Khumbu valley at Everest region.
A perfect and ideal country walks for people with time for more than three week duration of holiday in Nepal, where this fabulous Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking fits in, for you to enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment of lower areas of Everest around Solu with villages of mixed tribe of hill people with much Sherpa community and impressive monasteries to visit.
Since Lukla airstrip was built in the early 1970’s by late Edmund Hillary, the trail from Jiri was almost forgotten where you can revive this old classic trail back to action trekking into its nice traditional farm villages within high scenic hills covered by enchanting forest of tall rhododendron-oaks-pines and fir tree lines.
Truly a fascinating adventure on Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking, starting with exciting overland drive from Kathmandu to Jiri town, also called as Switzerland of Nepal and then heading further east to start our wonderful walks heading ups and downhill within Solu district, encountering lovely villages of Kinja-Sete-Junbesi-Nunthala and Kharikhola as walk proceeds crossing some high scenic pass to reach the main trail of Everest near Lukla at Phakding village.
Adventure continues on reaching Khumbu areas at Phakding following the glacial Dudh Kosi River to reach at high Namche Bazaar the capital of Khumbu Sherpa, with rest day for short scenic excursion to viewpoint of Everest-Lhotse-Ama Dablam and adjoining peaks that dominates throughout the trek to Everest base camp.
Walking further high terrain where tree lines fade to moon like landscapes of rocks and moraine hill with high snow clad peaks that decorates the beauty of Khumbu areas, slowly our journey enters to our main highlight at Everest base camp with tremendous views of giant mountains with notorious massive Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers, with climb of highest spot of the adventure on top Kalapatthar for sweeping panorama of peaks with views of Everest at close range.
Finally our mesmerizing long journey and adventure concludes walking towards Lukla town for short scenic flight back to Kathmandu ever-lasting memories and exciting times on Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: On arrival in Kathmandu meet our staff for transfer to hotel
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome and greetings and then transfer to your hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city. After checking into your rooms getting refreshed from Jet-Lag, a quiet environment after getting refreshed join at main hall or in lobby where our guide will provide briefing on treks-hotels with necessary information. Evening includes group dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with folk culture program with various dances of Nepal while having your authentic Nepalese dinner with local entertainment

Day 02: Overland journey to Jiri town 1,900 m - 06 hrs
A great exciting overland journey to Jiri heading east of Kathmandu on Lhasa –Kathmandu highway for few hours, and then heading high to reach around Dolakha district at Charikot town, as drive leads down to Tama Kosi River and then uphill on zig-zag road to reach lovely Jiri town. Jiri also known as Switzerland of Nepal, with scenic green hills, valley and views of snow peaks, overnight in this nice town with time to browse around its market place.

Day 03: Drive to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195m and trek to Kinja 1,770 m -06 hrs
Today to begin a our first day walks starting with a short drive on rough road past Shivalaya and up to Deuarli then heading down into a wide valley at Bhandar with touch of Buddhist culture. From Bhandar few hours of good walks past many farm villages of great interest with surrounding nice scenery of rolling hills and valley as walk brings to an interesting village at Kinja for overnight stop in local lodge, the area mostly populated by Sherpa people with views of Numbur Himal towards north

Day 04: Trek to Guranse 2,940 m via Sete 2,575 m near Lamjura-La pass - 06 hrs
Walk begins with steep climb into cool serene forest to reach at Sherpa village in Sete then heading further up past several scattered farm houses and into deep woodland of tall rhododendron-oaks-pines-magnolia and fir tree lines to reach at Guranse for overnight stop, located in the midst of rhododendron forest with few tea-houses serving as lodges.

Day 05: Trek to Junbesi 2,675m via Lamjura-la 3,530m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads to first pass of the trek reaching at the top of Lamjura-la pass after few hours of good climb, a high cooler area with some nice lodges for refreshment, with some time here having break then heading over the pass with downhill to reach the base of the past at Toc-Toc small village. Here for possible lunch stop, as afternoon walk leads on a winding gradual up to a ridge and then downhill to reach a large Sherpa village at Junbesi, a lovely and interesting place for overnight stop, with time to browse around the village.

Day 06: Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190 m - 06 hrs.
After a pleasant and wonderful stop in Junbesi, morning walk leads to slow winding uphill path to reach at Syalung danda village with first glimpse of Mt. Everest with other Khumbu Himal and peaks, from here on near level path with downhill to a river after crossing a bridge climb up to Ringmo village. Afternoon walk having lunch at Ringmo heading up into lovely forested area to reach on top Takshindo pass with splendid views of landscapes and peaks of Khumbu region, from here downhill to Takshindo village and its monastery with further descend to reach a nice and a large village at Nunthala for overnight stop. Nunthala of mixed people of Sherpa-Kirat, Rai some Magar-Tamang with Hindu Chettries and Dalits which make this village more interesting with lots shops-teahouses, lodges and many shops and stores.

Day 07: Trek to Bupsa Danda approx. 2,250 m 06 hrs
Morning walk leads past village with long descend past farm areas and into forest to reach at the bottom of the hills near raging Dudh-Kosi River, after crossing a bridge with gentle winding uphill to Jubing village of Rai farmers and then with more climb for few hours to reach a fairly large village of Khari-Khola with mixed tribe of hill people mostly Sherpa with lots of shops and lodges around. From here crossing Khari-Khola (Stream) with steep hill climb for few hours to reach a top ridge at Bupsa Danda a moderate size village with lodges to stay offering super views of landscapes and mountains.

Day 08: Trek to Surkhe 2,295 m - 06 hrs
From here on air gets much cooler as walk leads into high Khumbu areas heading uphill into enchanting woodland to reach at Pyuin village (pronounced as Paya) in the midst of a forest, as walk progress on gentle path with views of Lukla towards North, then walk downhill to Surkhe village for overnight stop the village located at the bottom of Lukla town and its runway.

Day 09: Trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 05 hrs
Today walk leads into main trail of Lukla to Everest after being away from main flow of trekkers for some days as morning walk leads up to Ghai Kharka and Muse Sherpa nice villages and then joining the main trail at Choplung, as walk leads on gradual winding path past several Sherpa farm villages with views of Kongde and Kusum-Khanguru to reach overnight stop at Phakding, located by the glacial Dudh Kosi Rivers

Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads to nice areas on route Namche Bazaar gaining altitude as walk progress, following Dudh Kosi river and crossing several times to reach at Monjo village near Sagarmatha National Park entrance, from here walking on river valley and gorge covered within nice woodland of tall rhododendron-pines and fir trees. After crossing a high last bridge with few hours climb to Namche Bazaar with stunning views of Everest-Lhotse and Kongde peaks. Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m high an ideal place for rest day to acclimatize, the main town / village of Khumbu where colorful and exciting Saturday market takes place once a week.

Day 11: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Rest day for acclimatization before heading higher terrain, morning after breakfast with options for hike to Everest View Hotel or walk on top of Namche, where you can catch super landscapes scenery with Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam with series of high peaks, here enjoy visiting National Park Museum provides you with much information of Khumbu region, Sherpa history-culture-flora and fauna including detail on mountaineering.

Day 12: Trek to Thyangboche Monastery 3,867 m - 05 hrs
Enjoying pleasant time at Namche, morning walk leads to scenic and gradual walks overlooking Everest and other giant peaks, as our route leads downhill to Imjatse river at Phunki Tenga, a small place with few lodges an ideal spot for refreshing break or lunch stop. From here heading uphill into enchanting alpine forest to reach a beautiful surrounding at Thyangboche Monastery offering grand panorama of mountains with Everest and Ama Dablam at close distance, here with time for tour into monastery and witness monks and priest on prayer. Thyangboche also holds a colorful festival ‘Mani-Rimdu’ monks with mask dancing wading evil spirits which falls in the month of October as per Buddhist lunar calendar.

Day 13: Trek to Dingboche 4410 m - 05hrs
Morning catching super views of high peaks with Everest, our route descends into forested areas reaching a metal bridge, from here a slow climb encountering mani (prayer) walls along the walks to Pangboche village, this is a last Sherpa permanent village on route to Everest base camp. Other places are temporary settlements with fine lodges to cater the needs of travelers and trekkers, as walk continues heading higher, from here walk leads on barren and arid country where tree lines drops for small bushes of juniper and dwarf rhododendron (azalea). Day 14: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.
From Dingboche our route leads closer to Everest as walk climbs to a ridge marked with prayer flags and Stupas, then walking on nice gradual uphill facing marvelous scenery to reach at a small place in Thugla where Khumbu glaciers melts into a torrential river. A perfect place for rest and lunch stop, where afternoon walks leads to a steep climb at Thugla hill a place with with many memorials of unfortunate climbers around peaks of Khumbu and Everest. Walk continues for another few hours on nice gradual up to Lobuche for overnight stop, a place with several nice lodge with views of Nuptse and Lobuche peaks

Day 15: Trek to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs
Today a great walk towards our main highlight and final destinations to reach Everest Base Camp, as morning walk leads on open wide valley with slow climb to reach above Khumbu glaciers, walking past moraine dunes reaching at Gorakshep, a place with few lodges on the junction of Everest base camp and Kalapatthar route. Gorakshep an earlier Everest base camp since 1950’s to late 1970’s before the route further about 4-6 k.m. From Gorakshep few hours walk over moraine and glacier to reach our ultimate destination at base camp with sweeping views of giant peaks of Nuptse-Lo la, Nuptse with notorious huge Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. In high mountaineering season this place will be active with climbers and crews with many camps set on top of moraine and glaciers. After a grand time then head back to Gorakshep for highest overnight stop of the adventure with fantastic memories of the day walks to Everest base camp.

Day 16: Hike to Kalapatthar 5,545 m and walk to Pangboche 3,900 m via Pheriche -05hrs.
Morning climb to scenic hill top at Kalapatthar above 5,545 m, the highest point of the trek offering incredible panorama of mountains with Everest at stone throw distance. With amazing time on top head back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue trek downhill past Lobuche and Thugla, where walk leads to windy Pheriche valley and then with short climb to a ridge with long descend to Pangboche village for overnight stop.

Day 17: Trek to Kyanjinma 3,645 m on route Namche - 06 hrs
Walk on same route with descend to Imjatse River and then climb to Thyangboche Monastery back into green vegetation and tree lines, with time here with scenic views, head downhill to Phunki Tenga and climb for an hour to reach a small place at Kyanjinma for overnight stop, which is on route Namche, a pleasant spot facing views of Everest-Ama Dablam and Tharmasarku with other range of peaks. Here chances of spotting some wild-life like musk deer, herd of Himalayan Thar and pheasant Danfe (national bird of Nepal).

Day 18: Trek to Monjo 2,860 m via Namche Bazaar - 05 hrs.

Day 19: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs
Morning with last day trek of this marvelous adventure leads on same scenic trail to Phakding following Dudh Kosi River downstream, from here a pleasant walk with few short ups and down to Choplung village, where an hour climb brings you at Lukla for lunch and overnight stop. In Lukla celebrate last night dinner among fellow trekkers, guides and porters after a fantastic time on Classic Trail to Everest Base Camp trekking.

Day 20: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotels
Morning transfer to Luka air terminal known as Tenzing-Hillary airport, tribute to late legendry mountaineers the first two to conquer on top Mt. Everest. As per the flight time board in small aircraft (Dornier or Twin Otter) a scenic 35 minutes flight brings you to hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure
